Expert Bathroom Circuit Installation and Electrical Repairs in Charlotte
Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team completed a comprehensive bathroom electrical upgrade for Precision Services Inc., finishing on December 18, 2024. Led by technician Patrick Burke, we installed dedicated bathroom circuits, corrected rough-in issues, and prepared the project for a smooth inspection in Charlotte, NC.
This project required new 20-amp bathroom circuits, safe GFCI protection, proper ventilation wiring, and fixture installs—plus detailed cleanup and documentation to align with code and inspection expectations.
Scope of Work Completed
- Two new 20-amp bathroom circuits to support outlets and dedicated loads safely.
- New breakers installed and labeled, including a special breaker as required.
- GFCI protection added at the bathroom receptacle for code-compliant safety.
- Two outlets and two light switches installed and supplied.
- Customer-supplied 2x4 lay-in light fixture installed on an existing box/circuit.
- Bathroom exhaust fan wired and connected to existing power (electrical only).
- Electrical cleanup: removed unnecessary wiring and terminated any open conductors.
Materials and methods included EMT conduit (1/2 inch) with properly sized fittings, THHN #12 conductors for the 20-amp runs, and MC cable where specified. All connections were tightened, supported, and tested.
Correcting Rough-In Issues for Inspection Readiness
The site had previously failed a rough-in inspection. Our team addressed every noted deficiency to bring the installation up to standard and ready for reinspection.
- Completed wiring for bath fans and lighting and verified switch control.
- Installed and cut in boxes for water heater circuits and ran the required MC cable.
- Secured and supported MC to eliminate any hanging or unsafe sections.
- Cleaned up cut or abandoned low-voltage and line-voltage wiring to meet safety and code expectations.
- Ensured stamped plans/documentation were available on-site for the inspector.
By correcting the rough-in and documenting our work, we positioned the project to pass inspection and move to finish stages without delays.
Power for Instant Hot Water Heaters
Each bathroom required power for an instant hot water heater. We installed two dedicated water heater circuits, cut in the necessary boxes, and verified proper load handling on the panel with appropriately sized breakers and secure terminations.
Safety, Quality, and Compliance
- Code-focused installs: GFCI protection where required, correct conductor sizing, and secured raceways.
- Panel work done right: torque-checked connections and labeled breakers for easy identification.
- Ventilation wiring: fan tied into the existing power source with safe, accessible connections.
- Documentation and permitting: Electrical permit filed for the work performed. Note: only the electrical permit was included; other jurisdictional permits, if required by the locality, are excluded.
