Project: Asheville Lighting, Ceiling Fan & GFCI Outlet Installation
Location: Asheville, NC • Branch: Asheville team serving the area from our Hendersonville location
Customer: Re-Bath Charlotte • Date completed: April 2, 2026
Our Lighting & Ceiling Fans specialists completed a multi-room upgrade for a client in Asheville. The project combined lighting installation, fan installation, outlet upgrades, and bathroom ventilation to improve comfort, safety, and everyday usability—delivered by technicians Chris Rogers and Michail Barankevich.
What we installed
- Two customer-supplied fixtures (ceiling fan and light): Installed on existing boxes and circuits for a clean, secure finish.
- Dimmer switch: Added adjustable lighting control for customized brightness and energy efficiency.
- Two GFCI receptacles: Upgraded outlets in moisture-prone areas to code-compliant, ground-fault protection.
- One standard receptacle: Replaced/installed to expand everyday plug-in convenience.
- One standard light switch: Installed for reliable on/off control of a lighting circuit.
- Bathroom exhaust fan (customer-supplied): Removed the old housing, made precise drywall cuts, reworked the duct connection, and tied into the existing power for improved ventilation.
- NM-B 14/2 cable (10 ft): Utilized a short length of code-compliant cable to make proper tie-ins and ensure neat, dependable connections.
- Electrical permit: Filed the required electrical permit with the county for a fully compliant installation.
How we approached the job
Our team began with a review of the existing boxes and circuits to confirm safe, compatible connections. We then installed the customer-supplied ceiling fan and light fixture, ensuring correct support, balanced blades, and secure mounting for quiet operation. The new dimmer switch was paired to the compatible lighting load for smooth, flicker-free control.
In moisture-prone areas, we upgraded outlets to GFCI protection to meet safety and code requirements. We also installed a new standard receptacle where general-use power was needed. For the bathroom, we removed the existing fan housing, adjusted the opening, reworked the ducting, and connected the new fan to the home’s existing circuit, improving airflow without running new power.
All wiring terminations were made with proper support and strain relief, and we used a short length of 14/2 NM-B where needed for clean, code-compliant tie-ins. We wrapped up with thorough function testing and a tidy cleanup.
Code compliance and permitting
- GFCI protection: Installed in locations where safety standards require ground-fault protection.
- Ventilation best practices: The bathroom fan was tied into the existing power and duct reworked for effective exhaust.
- Electrical permit: We handled the electrical permit filing. If a jurisdiction requires non-electrical permits (such as historic, environmental, zoning, or builder permits), those are not included; we advise customers if any additional filings are needed.
