Appliance circuits and range outlet installation in Mint Hill

Our Matthews-based Charlotte team completed a code-compliant outlet and appliance circuit project for Kitchen Tune-Up (CLT) in Mint Hill, NC. On 04/16/2025, technicians Easton Mitchell and Mark Viktorovich added dedicated 20A and 50A circuits, installed new receptacles, and provided exterior-conduit wiring to serve an electric range. The home is on a slab, so portions of the run were routed along the exterior wall in protective conduit.

To access the panel and the backs of existing locations for the dedicated circuits, we carefully removed sections of drywall in the garage. As discussed with the customer, this work requires drywall damage; Touchstone Electric is not responsible for drywall repair. All new installations were tested and labeled for safe, reliable use.

What we installed

  • 20A standard breaker dedicated for small appliances to reduce overloads and nuisance trips.
  • 20A GFCI breaker providing ground-fault protection for receptacles in areas where GFCI is required for safety.
  • 50A standard breaker to power the customer’s electric range with a robust, dedicated feed.
  • Two standard receptacles with new covers, professionally mounted and tested.
  • Exterior-conduit range wiring using 3/4" PVC conduit (20 ft) with fittings and weather-appropriate terminations to protect the conductors.
  • NM-B Romex 12/2 (30 ft) for new 20A branch circuits to kitchen appliance and power locations.
  • NM-B Romex 6/3 (10 ft) for a 240V high-demand appliance feed where appropriate inside finished areas.
  • THHN #6 conductors (20 ft) pulled in conduit for the exterior portion of the heavy-duty circuit run.
  • Appliance hookups including one small appliance and one major appliance connection to the new circuits and receptacles.

All circuits were neatly routed and terminated with proper connectors, and the panel directory was updated to reflect the new loads.

Why dedicated appliance circuits matter

Modern kitchens and laundry areas demand reliable power. Dedicated 20A circuits for small appliances help prevent tripping breakers when multiple devices run at once. A properly sized 50A circuit for a range delivers the capacity a high-draw appliance needs for consistent performance. Pairing these circuits with GFCI protection in required locations enhances safety by quickly shutting off power if a ground fault occurs.

Safety, testing, and code-focused workmanship

From conductor sizing to device ratings, each installation followed current electrical best practices for Mint Hill homes. Our team confirmed correct polarity, torque, GFCI functionality, and breaker performance before leaving the site. The exterior-conduit route for the range circuit adds a durable protective pathway, while interior runs were kept tidy and secure to support long-term reliability.

Project conditions and access

Because the house is built on a slab, interior routing options are limited. Running the range circuit along the exterior wall in conduit provided a clean, code-appropriate solution with minimal disruption to finished spaces. Limited drywall removal in the garage allowed safe, direct access to the panel and the back of targeted locations for the new dedicated circuits. Drywall patching and paint are excluded from our electrical scope.

Customer feedback

Kitchen Tune-Up (CLT) praised our team in their review of the project, noting a positive experience from start to finish. We appreciate the feedback and remain committed to dependable, code-compliant work for Mint Hill homeowners and contractors alike.
