Touchstone Electric was called to a Charlotte home to resolve safety and code issues in a sunroom. Our team installed proper AFCI protection on the sunroom’s lighting and receptacle circuits, upgraded exposed wiring with conduit and junction boxes, and tidied existing conductors for a clean, secure, and compliant finish. This project reflects our focus on precise troubleshooting, neat workmanship, and long-term safety for Charlotte homeowners.
What we repaired in the sunroom
- AFCI protection added: We provided arc-fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) protection for the sunroom’s lighting and outlet circuits to reduce the risk of arc-related electrical fires and align the space with modern safety requirements.
- Conduit and junction boxes installed: Romex cable running beneath the flooring was not properly protected. We installed conduit and two strategically placed junction boxes, then added flexible conduit runs in both directions to shield the wiring and provide reliable, serviceable access points.
- Wiring clean-up and organization: We secured, dressed, and arranged conductors to reduce clutter and abrasion risks, supporting better performance, safety, and code readiness.
The result is a safer, more dependable sunroom electrical system with components that are protected, clearly organized, and easier to maintain over time.
Why AFCI protection matters
AFCI devices detect dangerous arcing conditions that traditional breakers may miss. Our approach to code and safety
Unprotected cable under flooring is vulnerable to damage and can be difficult to inspect. By enclosing those conductors in conduit and using junction boxes at accessible points, we created a protected pathway that is both safer and easier to troubleshoot in the future. We also took time to neaten and secure wiring throughout the work area—small details that contribute to a reliable system and a professional finish.
