Project Overview: A/C Service Disconnect & Breaker Installation in Charlotte, NC

Our Matthews-based Charlotte branch completed a code-compliant upgrade for Robert Price in Charlotte on September 2, 2026. This project falls under our Panels & Service Upgrades and Service Disconnects services and included a new A/C equipment disconnect, a dedicated 15A breaker for bathroom lighting per 2020 code, new cable runs, and PVC conduit, all under an approved county electrical permit.

What We Installed

≤60A pull-out A/C service disconnect: A safe, code-required means to isolate power to the air-conditioning equipment for maintenance and repairs.
LFNC whip (30A): 1/2" non-metallic liquidtight flexible conduit with 10 AWG copper THHN/THWN (3-wire) conductors for a durable, weather-resistant equipment connection.
15A standard breaker for bathroom lights: Installed to support bathroom lighting in alignment with 2020 code requirements for lighting branch circuits.
12/3 NM-B cable (approx. 40 ft): Routed to support the new circuits and connections, with proper protection and secure attachment.
3/4" PVC conduit: Installed with the appropriate connectors, LBs, and supports as applicable for a clean, long-lasting pathway.
Electrical permit filed: We secured the county electrical permit for the scope of work in Charlotte.
Electrical assistant on site: Additional licensed support helped keep the job efficient and organized.

Every component was selected and installed to meet local and national electrical codes, with attention to neatness, accessibility, and long-term serviceability.

Safety and Code Compliance

The equipment disconnect ensures a technician can safely isolate power during A/C service, reducing hazards and aligning with code. The LFNC whip provides a flexible, liquidtight connection that stands up to outdoor conditions and equipment vibration. Inside the panel, the 15A breaker for bathroom lights supports 2020 code practices for lighting branch circuits. We use correct conductor types and sizes, proper terminations, and labeled components to help future maintenance go smoothly.

Permitting and What’s Included

Touchstone Electric filed the electrical permit with the county for this Charlotte project and coordinated work to align with inspection requirements. Please note that only the electrical permit is included. If a project requires other jurisdictional approvals—such as Historic Preservation, Environmental/Septic, Zoning, separate Subcontractor, or Builders permits—those are not included. If additional non-electrical permits are necessary, we’ll let you know what’s required and can provide pricing to process and file them upon request.
