Project overview: 60A underground feeder for a future subpanel in Cary, NC
Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh team completed a clean, code-ready underground feeder installation in Cary, NC for homeowner Alison Rosciano. The scope supported a 60-amp subpanel feeder, providing reliable power capacity for future circuits. Work was completed on 2025-03-11 by technician Cody Perry.
This job falls under our Panels & Service Upgrades category, with a focus on Subpanel Installation preparation and infrastructure.
What we installed
- 30 ft of 3/4 in PVC conduit with fittings, connectors, and LBs as applicable for a clean, protected pathway from the source to the planned subpanel location.
- 30 ft of UF #6/2 direct-burial cable sized for a 60A feeder, routed through the trench to support a subpanel load center.
- Trenching and backfill performed neatly, with utility-aware routing and a tidy finish for minimal landscape disruption.
The underground UF cable was installed to a minimum burial depth of 24 inches (unless in rigid conduit), meeting common code requirements for direct-burial feeders. The assembly was laid out for straightforward final connections and inspection-readiness.
Note: This scope did not include a breaker, posts, or any receptacle/switch/fixture installations, in line with the defined work order.
How we ensured code-ready results
- Accurate layout to maintain practical routing while preserving existing landscaping.
- Clean conduit transitions using LBs and appropriate connectors to protect conductors at entry and exit points.
- Proper burial depth for UF cable and a neat trench profile to support longevity and safety.
- Clear labeling and organization at termination points to streamline future subpanel tie-in and inspection.
The finished run positions the homeowner for a smooth subpanel setup, making it easier to add future home circuits such as a workshop, basement circuits, or other dedicated loads.
