Level 2 EV Charger Installation in Charlotte, NC

Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch (Matthews) completed a 60-amp Level 2 EV charger installation for Duke Energy - Allumia in Charlotte, NC. Led by technician Viktor Opalko, the project was finished on November 8, 2024, with a county electrical permit filed for full code compliance and peace of mind.

This job was designed for reliable daily charging, clean routing, and a future-ready electrical setup that supports today’s EVs and tomorrow’s upgrades.

What We Installed

  • New 60A breaker dedicated to the EV charging circuit for consistent Level 2 performance.
  • 80 feet of wiring (4/3 NM-B) sized to support high-current EV charging on a dedicated circuit.
  • 2-inch PVC conduit with fittings, connectors, and LBs for a tidy, protected run.
  • Trenching approximately 18–24 inches (about 15 feet) to protect the feeder and meet code depth where required.
  • Appliance hookup for the customer-supplied charger (receptacle or hardwired, as applicable).
  • Electrical permit filed with the county to ensure inspection and compliance with local codes.
  • Additional wireman support on site to maintain quality and timelines.

We prioritize neat terminations, secure conduit transitions, and labeled panels so homeowners and property managers can easily service or expand in the future.

Permitting and Code Compliance

Our team handled the county electrical permit from start to finish, coordinating all required documentation and scheduling for inspection. This service covers the electrical permit only. Other jurisdictional requirements—such as Historic Preservation, Environmental/Septic, Zoning, Builder, or non-electrical subcontractor permits—are not included. If additional permits are required for a specific site, we inform you of what’s needed and can provide pricing to process those permits on your behalf.

Clean Routing, Trenching, and Conduit

To protect the EV charging circuit and keep the property looking great, we used 2-inch PVC conduit along the run and performed trenching at 18–24 inches where needed. Prior to digging, we always advise contacting 811 for utility location services to ensure a safe and compliant excavation. The result is a durable installation that stands up to weather, wear, and daily charging demands.

Duke Energy EV Rebate Applied

We assisted with the Duke Energy EV rebate so the customer could take advantage of available incentives. Our team helps gather the required documentation and submit it properly, streamlining the process and helping reduce out-of-pocket costs for qualifying installations.
