Professional 60A Appliance Circuit & Breaker Installation in Shelby, NC
On December 4, 2024, our Charlotte team based out of the Matthews branch completed a dedicated 60-amp appliance circuit and breaker installation for homeowner Paul Bukta in Shelby, NC. Led by technician Josh Key, this project delivered safe, reliable power for a major appliance with clean workmanship and local code compliance from start to finish.
This job falls under our Panels & Service Upgrades and Circuit Breaker Repair & Replacement services—ideal for homeowners who need new capacity for heavy-duty appliances or an upgrade to existing electrical infrastructure.
Scope of Work Completed
- County electrical permit: We filed the electrical permit to ensure a documented, code-compliant installation and inspection pathway.
- 60-amp breaker install: A new standard 60A breaker was added to the existing electrical panel to provide dedicated overcurrent protection for the appliance.
- SEU #8 (3-wire) cabling: Approximately 15 feet of SEU #8 (3-wire) was routed for a robust, appliance-ready feed, with secure terminations and a professional finish.
- Wire fishing through finished spaces: About 10 feet of wire fishing addressed hard-to-reach areas, minimizing disturbance to finished surfaces.
- Appliance power connection: We installed a standard receptacle with cover or hardwired the unit as required by the appliance specifications and code.
The result is a reliable, dedicated circuit tailored to the appliance’s demand, reducing nuisance tripping and helping protect equipment and wiring.
Why Choose a Dedicated 60A Circuit?
Major appliances draw significant current, especially during startup. A dedicated 60-amp circuit ensures the appliance receives the capacity it needs without overloading general-use circuits. Benefits include improved safety, better performance under load, and reduced risk of breaker trips that can interrupt daily routines. It also supports future serviceability—clear labeling and a dedicated breaker make maintenance and upgrades more straightforward.
Permitting and Code Compliance
Every installation we perform is designed to meet current electrical code requirements and local inspection standards. For this Shelby project, we filed the electrical permit with the county as part of our service.
- What’s included: County electrical permitting for the scope of electrical work completed.
- What’s not included: Non-electrical permits (such as historic preservation, environmental/septic, zoning, builder, or separate subcontractor permits) are not included. If additional permits are required for a project, we inform the homeowner of next steps and can provide pricing for processing any non-electrical permits as needed.
