60A Appliance Circuit and Breaker Installation in Mooresville, NC
Touchstone Electric completed a professional 60-amp appliance circuit and breaker installation for homeowner Jessica Moggridge in Mooresville, NC. The project was handled by our Charlotte branch team based in Matthews and performed by technician Christian Cedillos on December 6, 2024. This service falls under our Panels & Service Upgrades and Circuit Breaker Repair & Replacement categories, and was completed with a filed county electrical permit.
Project Overview
To deliver safe, reliable power for a major appliance and future electrical needs, we installed a dedicated 60A breaker and appliance circuit, added a 100A feeder for additional capacity, and protected new wiring with durable PVC conduit. The scope included providing the correct wiring methods and terminations for both receptacle and hardwired connections, based on the appliance’s requirements.
- 60A Standard Breaker: New two-pole breaker installed for a dedicated appliance circuit.
- Dedicated Appliance Circuit: Completed with either a code-compliant receptacle or hardwired connection, as needed for the customer-supplied appliance.
- 100A Feeder: THHN #4 conductors installed to supply a 100-amp feeder (ideal for subpanels or future loads), providing expanded capacity.
- PVC Conduit (1"): Approximately 15 ft of PVC with appropriate fittings, connectors, and LBs where applicable for mechanical protection and a clean, professional pathway.
- NM-B 4/3 Cable: About 40 ft of NM-B 4/3 used where suitable to support heavy-duty circuit runs while meeting local code requirements.
- Electrical Permit Filed: We filed the electrical permit with the county to ensure the work is documented and inspected per local regulations.
Why This Upgrade Matters
- Dedicated Capacity: A 60A breaker and dedicated circuit help prevent nuisance tripping and voltage drop for high-demand appliances.
- Room to Grow: The 100A feeder provides flexibility for subpanels or future circuits, supporting remodels or equipment additions.
- Clean, Protected Runs: PVC conduit safeguards wiring in exposed or transitional areas and helps maintain a neat installation.
- Permitted Work: Filing the county electrical permit adds an extra layer of safety and code compliance for peace of mind.
Permit Notes
The permit included for this job covers the electrical scope only. Other jurisdictional or specialty permits (such as Historic Preservation, Environmental/Septic, Zoning, separate subcontractor, or builder permits) were not included. If non-electrical permits are required for similar projects, we’ll advise what is needed and can provide pricing for processing those additional permits if requested.
