Project Overview

This upgrade was designed to provide ample service capacity for current loads and anticipated growth. Our team managed the entire process—from planning and permits to utility coordination and final energization—so the customer had a single, accountable partner throughout the job.

Scope of Work Completed

Permits & Utility Coordination: Scheduled the power drop with the utility and handled all required permitting and inspections in Charlotte.
400 Amp Meter Base Installation: Furnished and installed a new 400A meter base (meter socket) to serve as the foundation for the upgraded service.
Conduit to Weatherhead: Installed new conduit from the meter base to the weatherhead for a durable, code-compliant service riser.
Service-Entrance Cable & Drip Loop: Ran new service-entrance conductors up to the end of the drip loop for proper weather shedding and utility connection.
Grounding & Bonding: Installed ground rods with grounding electrode conductors and verified bonding for a compliant grounding electrode system.
Load Calculation & Approval: Performed a full load calculation and submitted documentation to the power company for approval, as required for a 400A service.
Outage Planning: Coordinated the outage window. At the customer’s request, Touchstone can provide a generator for limited power use during the outage.

Note: This scope did not include the feeder and conduit from the meter base to any main panels. If needed, our team can provide that as an additional service.
