Primary service category: Outlets & Switches
Secondary service category: Outlet Installation & Repair

What We Completed for This Charlotte Home

  • Installed a new 30A dryer circuit and cord: We furnished and installed a dedicated 30-amp, 240-volt circuit for the customer’s electric dryer and provided the appropriate appliance cord for a clean, code-focused hookup.
  • Added two 20A basement outlets on a dedicated circuit: We furnished and installed two standard receptacles on a new 20-amp dedicated branch circuit to support higher-demand basement loads without nuisance tripping.
  • Corrected surge-protection breaker configuration (warranty): We addressed a previously double-tapped breaker that was feeding surge protection by installing the proper setup, ensuring a safer, code-appropriate termination.
  • Adjusted GE subpanel breaker (warranty): We installed a BR breaker in the GE subpanel as part of warranty corrections. These two warranty items were completed at no charge to the customer.

Every circuit and connection was tested for proper voltage, grounding, and polarity to confirm safe operation and dependable performance for daily use.

Materials and Methods Used

  • 10/3 NM-B Romex (approx. 50 ft) for the 30-amp dryer circuit, providing the correct conductor size for a 240V appliance and a robust, dedicated run from the panel to the dryer location.
  • Appliance installation service for the dryer hookup, including furnishing the receptacle or hard-wiring as needed during the visit in coordination with the customer’s supplied appliance.
  • 12/2 NM-B Romex (approx. 60 ft) for the new 20-amp basement branch circuit to serve the two standard receptacles with consistent power delivery.
  • Two standard receptacles with covers, mounted securely for safe, convenient access and a tidy finish.

Our approach prioritizes clean routing, secure strapping, correct breaker sizing, and meticulous terminations, followed by verification with meters to ensure the installation performs as intended.

Why Dedicated Circuits Matter

  • Performance: Dryers and power tools draw significant current. A dedicated 30A dryer circuit and a separate 20A basement circuit reduce overload risk and improve uptime.
  • Safety: Proper breaker sizing, correct wire gauge, and eliminating double-tapped terminations help prevent overheating and electrical faults.
  • Panel compatibility: Matching breaker types and organizing terminations in the subpanel contribute to long-term reliability and serviceability.
  • Future-ready: Clear labeling and dedicated runs make expansions or troubleshooting faster and more cost-effective down the road.
