Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch completed a clean, code-focused upgrade for homeowner Jeffrey Reisberg. On September 3, 2025, our licensed electricians Theo Coetsee and Robert Sloan installed a new 240V circuit, optimized panel space with tandem breakers, and added a ≤60A pull disconnect for safe servicing. This project falls under our Panels & Service Upgrades and Circuit Breaker Repair & Replacement expertise, delivering reliable power where it’s needed and keeping the electrical system organized and safe.
Scope of work
- Installed and supplied NM‑B cable from the main panel to an outlet wall by the crawlspace door for a dedicated 240V load.
- Installed and supplied a 15A double‑pole breaker to protect the new 240V circuit.
- Installed and supplied four 15A tandem breakers to create additional panel space without a full panel change.
- Installed and supplied a ≤60A pull‑out disconnect to provide a safe, local means of power isolation for maintenance.
Materials and components used
- NM‑B cable (12/3) for the dedicated 240V run from the panel to the outlet wall near the crawlspace door, sized for a 15‑amp load and clean routing.
- NM‑B cable (14/3) where applicable for 15‑amp, 240V branch‑circuit needs to complete the installation per code.
- 15A double‑pole breaker to provide proper two‑pole overcurrent protection and tie‑handle functionality for the new 240V circuit.
- Four 15A tandem breakers to safely consolidate standard branch circuits and free up critical panel space for new equipment.
- ≤60A pull‑out disconnect to serve as a code‑required means of disconnect, allowing technicians or homeowners to isolate power during service and repairs on connected equipment.
Every component was selected to match the circuit rating and installation conditions, ensuring durable performance and a tidy, serviceable panel layout.
