200A Panel Upgrade and Meter Base Replacement in Spartanburg, SC
Touchstone Electric recently completed a comprehensive 200-amp service upgrade for a Spartanburg home. Led by technician Wyatt Barnes and supported by our Greenville team at our Taylors branch, this project delivered greater capacity, safety, and code compliance for modern household needs.
Completed on January 16, 2025, the project included a new meter base with riser and weatherhead, a 200A indoor main panel, updated grounding, and strategic breaker replacements. All work was permitted and inspected for peace of mind.
What We Upgraded
- New riser with weatherhead: Installed IMC conduit, straps, roof boot, and service entrance cable for a durable, weather-tight mast.
- 200A meter base: Coordinated the utility power drop, pulled permits, installed the new meter base, and added ground rods with grounding electrode conductors.
- 200A indoor main panel (aluminum bus): Replaced and labeled the panel, properly bonded and grounded it, reconnected the service entrance conductors, and tied in existing circuits. Surge protection was included for added equipment safety.
- Breaker updates: Installed 2x 30A double-pole breakers, 1x 20A GFCI breaker for required locations, and 14x 20A standard breakers for small-appliance and general-use circuits.
- Grounding system: Drove new ground rods and connected the grounding electrode conductor to ensure a robust grounding path per current code.
- Permits and inspection: Managed the full permitting process and scheduled final inspection for code compliance.
To minimize downtime during the outage window, we can provide a temporary generator for limited power by request.
