200A Meter/Main Panel Upgrade and Surge Protection in Roseboro, NC

- Service-ready conductors and conduit: Heavy‑gauge THHN 4/0 wiring and 2-inch PVC conduit with all necessary fittings for a clean, durable installation.
- Right-sized breakers for today’s loads: New 50A and 30A double‑pole breakers to support larger appliances and equipment, plus 20A circuits for small appliances and a dedicated 100A 2‑pole breaker for a subpanel.
This upgrade improves capacity, safety, and future flexibility—ideal for modern appliances, EV charging, and additional circuits as the home’s needs evolve.
Whole‑Home Surge Protection with $50K/10‑Year Coverage
We installed a whole‑house surge protection device at the main panel to divert excess voltage safely to ground. This helps shield your wiring, outlets, breakers, and connected equipment from damaging spikes caused by lightning events near the home, power grid fluctuations, or large appliances cycling on and off. The system includes a $50,000 coverage, 10‑year warranty on covered home appliances in the unlikely event of SPD failure.
Coverage notes based on the product warranty: claims are secondary to your existing insurance policy and direct lightning strikes are excluded. “Covered Equipment” generally includes major appliances and hardwired devices such as washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, disposal, stove, HVAC (indoor unit), wiring, outlets/switches, breakers, built‑in microwaves, furnace/air handlers, evaporator coils, hardwired ranges, home and landscape lighting when properly protected. Security systems and medical equipment are not included.
Safe, Simple Generator Backup with Interlock and Inlet
To prepare for outages, we added a generator interlock and inlet with a manual transfer solution. We reconfigured the panel so the new generator breaker and the homeowner’s priority circuits are grouped at the top left, then installed a UL‑listed interlock kit to prevent backfeed and protect the generator and utility workers. The setup includes a 50A breaker, labeling for clear operation during an outage, up to 15 ft of feeder to a mounted generator inlet, and a 15 ft whip to connect the portable generator when needed.

As inspectors continue implementing NEC 2020 requirements, some projects may require AFCI upgrades on certain circuits.
