Our Matthews branch of Touchstone Electric, part of the Charlotte service team, completed a 200-amp meter base and service replacement for DeRhodes Construction (Amen Corner Construction, LLC) in Mint Hill, NC. The existing meter had pulled away from the wall, creating a serious safety concern and making it unlikely that interior electrical work would pass inspection until the service equipment was secured and brought up to current standards.

Technician Jose Rodriguez handled the project from start to finish, coordinating the utility, permits, and installation details so the property could be made safe and ready for inspection.

What we did

Installed a new 200A meter base: We replaced the compromised meter setup with a new, code-compliant 200-amp meter base to restore a secure, weatherproof service point.
Secured the service equipment: The meter base was properly anchored and sealed to protect against movement and moisture, addressing the original issue of the meter pulling off the wall.
Added code-compliant grounding: We installed ground rods and grounding electrode conductors to ensure a low-impedance fault path and enhanced overall system safety.
Pulled the required permits: Our team handled permitting to streamline scheduling with the local authority having jurisdiction and prepare for a smooth inspection.
Coordinated the utility power drop: We scheduled and coordinated with the power provider to safely de-energize and re-energize the service during the upgrade.
