200A Electrical Panel Upgrade and Surge Protection in Matthews, NC
On March 4, 2024, our Charlotte branch completed a comprehensive 200-amp main electrical panel replacement for homeowner Jesse Soto in Matthews, NC. Technicians Brian Cain and Theo Coetsee led the project, bringing the home’s service equipment up to current code standards and adding a whole-home surge protector for enhanced safety and reliability.

Scope of Work Completed
- Replaced the existing main panel with a new indoor 200A main panel.
- Installed new breakers and main lug to match current standards.
- Grounded and bonded the panel for safety and code compliance.
- Reconnected the service entrance cable and all existing circuits.
- Labeled the new panel for clear circuit identification and future service.
- Installed a whole-home surge protector to help safeguard appliances and electronics.
Note: This scope did not include a service disconnect, feeder, or meter/service upgrade.
Temporary Power and Generator Support
Because main panel work requires the power to be disconnected, Touchstone made a generator available for limited power usage during the outage. This helped minimize disruption while our team completed the upgrade and testing.
