What we upgraded
- Permit and inspection: We pulled the required permit and coordinated final inspection for a code-compliant result from start to finish.
- New 200A main panel: Installed a modern indoor 200-amp panel with an aluminum bus, brought to current electrical code, grounded and bonded, with all existing circuits safely reconnected and the panel directory clearly labeled.
- Whole-home surge protection: Added a dedicated, warranty-backed surge protection system at the service to help shield appliances and sensitive electronics from damaging voltage spikes.
- Breaker replacements: Upgraded and standardized protection across the home with new breakers:
- 2 × 40A standard double-pole breakers
- 2 × 30A standard double-pole breakers
- 15 × 20A standard breakers
- 5 × 15A standard breakers
- 1 × 20A GFCI breaker for required areas such as bathrooms, laundry, garage, and exterior circuits
- Downtime minimized: Temporary power options were available to reduce disruption during the service changeover.

Safety and code-focused details
As Raleigh-area inspectors continue implementing NEC 2020 standards, some homes may require updates such as AFCI protection on certain branch circuits.
