200A Electrical Panel Upgrade & Surge Protection in Fort Mill, SC

Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team completed a code-compliant 200A main electrical panel replacement with whole‑home surge protection for homeowner Stuart Mace in Fort Mill. The project was finished on March 1, 2024 by technicians Ben Lively and Jeffrey Hughes from our Matthews branch.

This Panels & Service Upgrades project focused on safety, reliability, and future capacity—bringing the home’s distribution system up to current electrical code and adding robust protection against damaging power surges.

Scope of Work Completed

Replaced indoor 200A main panel, all breakers, and the main lug assembly.
Neatly labeled all circuits for faster troubleshooting and maintenance.
Grounded and bonded the new panel to meet current electrical code.
Reconnected the service entrance cable and all existing branch circuits.
Installed a whole‑home surge protector for added protection of appliances and sensitive electronics.
Performed a comprehensive panel safety check and verification of proper operation.

Note: This upgrade did not include a service disconnect, feeder, or meter/service upgrade. During the planned outage, a temporary generator was made available for limited power needs.
