200A Electrical Panel Upgrade and Surge Protection in Cary, NC
On August 6, 2026, Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh branch completed a comprehensive main service upgrade for a home in Cary, NC. The project included a 200-amp indoor main panel replacement with an aluminum bus, new code-compliant breakers, and a whole-home surge protection system. All work was permitted and inspected to meet current local and NEC standards.

Scope of Work Completed
- Permit and Inspection: Pulled the required electrical permit for Cary and coordinated the final inspection.
- 200A Main Panel (Aluminum Bus): Removed the existing panel and installed a new 200-amp indoor panel with an aluminum bus bar. The panel carries a 20-year transferable warranty.
- Grounding, Bonding, and Labeling: Grounded and bonded the new panel, labeled all circuits, reconnected the service-entrance conductors, and reconnected existing branch circuits.
- Whole-Home Surge Protection: Installed a surge protection device with a $10,000 connected-equipment coverage and a 3-year warranty to help protect electronics and appliances from power surges.

- Appliance Hookup: Connected a customer-supplied major appliance (e.g., EV charger, HVAC, stove, dryer, water heater, or indoor spa), including the receptacle or hard-wired connection during the visit.
- Project Support: An Electrical Assistant was assigned to keep the project on schedule and ensure a clean, safe workspace.
- Minimized Downtime: During the necessary power outage for the panel swap, we made a generator available for limited temporary power usage.
