Touchstone Electric completed a residential 200-amp electrical panel upgrade for Brent Wyatt in Stanley, NC. The project replaced the existing indoor main panel with a new copper 200A panel, helping bring the home’s electrical distribution system up to current code requirements while creating a safer, more dependable foundation for everyday electrical use.
Our Charlotte team, including Ash Ashirin and Tyquan Johnson, coordinated the electrical permit, completed the installation, and supported the required inspection process. During the planned power outage, limited generator power was made available to help minimize disruption in the home.
New Copper Main Panel and Breaker Replacement
The new indoor copper panel was installed, grounded, bonded, labeled, and connected to the home’s existing service entrance cable and branch circuits. Copper panels offer a durable option for homeowners planning for long-term electrical needs, whether those needs include additional appliances, HVAC equipment, electric vehicle charging, or other higher-demand loads.
As part of this panel replacement, our electricians installed and organized a broad range of new standard breakers for the home’s existing circuits. This included breakers serving bathroom lighting, small-appliance circuits, and larger double-pole circuits commonly used for equipment such as dryers, water heaters, air conditioning systems, spas, or EV chargers.

Whole-Home Surge Protection at the Main Panel
A whole-home surge protector was also installed at the new main electrical panel. Panel-mounted surge protection helps divert excess voltage safely to ground before it can travel through the home’s wiring and reach connected equipment. It can help protect against common voltage spikes caused by power-grid fluctuations, nearby lightning activity, and electrical equipment cycling on and off.
The installed surge protector includes a $10,000 covered-equipment warranty for three years, subject to its terms, conditions, exclusions, and coordination with applicable insurance coverage. Direct lightning strikes, security systems, and medical equipment are excluded from covered equipment.
