Project overview
Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team out of our Matthews branch completed a comprehensive electrical upgrade in Monroe, NC for homeowner Gayle Walsh. On November 4, 2025, our licensed electricians Jose Rodriguez and Theo Coetsee replaced the indoor main service panel with a 200 amp copper-bus panel, installed whole-home surge protection, added a new grounding system, and replaced key breakers. The project was fully permitted and passed inspection for safety and code compliance.
Scope of work completed
- 200 amp indoor main panel (copper bus): The new panel was brought to current electrical code. We grounded and bonded the panel, reconnected the service entrance cable, reconnected existing branch circuits, and clearly labeled the new panel directory for easier future service.
- Whole-home surge protection: Installed and supplied a surge protector to help safeguard appliances and electronics during utility or lightning surges. Includes a $10k warranty on the surge protector.
- New grounding system: Installed a code-compliant grounding system to improve fault clearing and overall system safety.
- Breaker replacement and right-sizing:
- 6x 15 amp standard breakers for general lighting and bathroom circuits
- 10x 20 amp standard breakers for small-appliance branch circuits
- 3x 30 amp double-pole breakers for larger 240V loads
- 1x 100 amp double-pole breaker for a subpanel
- 1x 25 amp double-pole breaker for a small condenser, well pump, or mini-split
- Permits and inspections: We handled permitting, coordinated the utility shutdown, and scheduled inspection. Limited generator support was available during the outage window to keep essentials running.
