200 Amp Panel Upgrade and Surge Protection in Charlotte, NC
Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch (Matthews) completed a comprehensive 200 amp panel upgrade and whole-home surge protection for GJK Remodeling, LLC in Charlotte. Led by Technician Ben Lively, this project was finished on April 30, 2025 and executed per stamped customer-provided electrical plans and current NEC requirements.
As a Panels & Service Upgrades specialist, our team delivered a code-compliant service that improves safety, reliability, and future capacity for the home’s electrical system—start to finish, including permitting and inspections.

This balanced layout supports present loads and provides room for future additions without compromising safety or performance.
Permitting, Inspections, and Code Compliance
We handled the electrical permit and coordinated both rough-in and final electrical inspections. All work followed NEC 2020 standards and the stamped electrical plans, with attention to grounding/bonding, overcurrent protection, GFCI/AFCI requirements, and life-safety devices like interconnected smoke detectors.
From rough to trim-out, our Charlotte team ensured each milestone passed inspection before proceeding—giving the homeowner and contractor confidence in a safe, resilient system.
Safety and Long-Term Reliability
- System protection: A whole-home surge protector helps safeguard electronics and appliances from voltage spikes.
- Life safety: Interlinked, hard-wired smoke detectors provide home-wide alerts.
- Modern protections: GFCI and AFCI coverage bring circuits in line with today’s safety expectations.
