200-Amp Electrical Panel Upgrade Completed in Charlotte
Touchstone Electric recently completed a main electrical panel upgrade for Laura Lunsford in Charlotte. Our Charlotte team replaced the existing panel with a new outdoor-rated 200-amp aluminum bus panel, creating a safer, more organized foundation for the home’s electrical system.
A main panel is responsible for distributing power throughout the home. When a panel is outdated, crowded, damaged, or no longer suited to a household’s electrical needs, an upgrade can improve electrical safety, circuit organization, and capacity for today’s appliances and equipment.
New Aluminum Panel With Clearly Labeled Circuits
For this electrical panel upgrade, our technicians installed the new 200-amp aluminum panel and transferred the home’s existing circuits into the replacement equipment. Each circuit was reconnected and properly labeled to make future identification and electrical service easier.
The project also included installation of the necessary standard breakers for the home’s existing branch circuits and dedicated equipment circuits. These included breakers sized for common household uses such as lighting, small appliances, dryer, water heater, air conditioning equipment, range circuits, and other applicable electrical loads.

Grounding, Bonding, Permit, and Inspection Included
Proper grounding and bonding are essential parts of a safe electrical service upgrade. The Touchstone Electric team installed a new ground rod and replaced the grounding electrode conductor running to the main service panel. This work helps provide the grounding path required for the upgraded electrical system.
The project included the electrical permit and required inspection. Our team handled the electrical permitting process so the completed panel upgrade could be inspected in accordance with local requirements. As with many electrical projects, inspection requirements can depend on the condition of existing wiring and the applicable code requirements.
During the installation, electrical power needed to be disconnected for safety. Touchstone Electric made a generator available for limited power use during the outage and restored power after the panel installation and circuit reconnections were complete.
