200 Amp Electrical Panel Upgrade & Kitchen Wiring in Concord, NC

Touchstone Electric completed a comprehensive electrical upgrade for MUSE Residential in Concord, NC on May 29, 2025. Led by our technician, Danny Bishop, and supported by our Charlotte team at the Matthews branch, this project combined a 200A main panel replacement with a full kitchen rewire to current code and the client’s blueprints.

Project highlights

New 200A outdoor main-breaker feed-through panel: Brought the service to current electrical code, including proper grounding and bonding, clean circuit labeling, and reconnection of the service entrance and existing circuits.
Kitchen rewire to blueprint: Installed five 6-inch selectable wafer lights (four in the kitchen, one over the sink) for even, glare-free illumination.
Island lighting and ambiance: Wired a pendant over the island plus four new dimmers to fine-tune light levels throughout the space.
Under-cabinet LED system: Wired a track-style LED setup to deliver bright, efficient task lighting at the counters.
Feature lighting: Added a low-voltage puck light inside the cabinet by the refrigerator.
Dining room update: Replaced a hanging fixture with a 6-inch wafer light for a clean, modern look.
Appliance and island circuits: Dedicated circuits for the dishwasher, disposal, refrigerator, microwave, and range, plus two outlets on the kitchen island to meet current code.
Code-compliant outlets and wiring: New kitchen receptacles and circuits installed with NM-B 12/2 where appropriate for 20-amp small-appliance loads.

Safety, code compliance, and inspection readiness

Our team prepared the new panel and kitchen wiring with inspection in mind—proper grounding and bonding, accurate panel schedules, and neat workmanship throughout. As local inspectors continue adopting the 2020 NEC, certain circuits may require AFCI protection. When upgrading to AFCI breakers, preexisting conditions such as shared neutrals can cause immediate tripping and may require additional diagnostic time. Our electricians are experienced in identifying and correcting these legacy wiring issues to help ensure a safe, reliable system.

For customer convenience during the panel changeover, limited temporary power via a generator was available during the outage. The installation also included permitting and inspection coordination per project requirements.
