20-Amp Outlet Circuit Wiring in Charlotte, NC

On January 8, 2025, our Matthews-based Charlotte team completed a clean, code-focused 20-amp outlet circuit install for homeowner Brendan Dunn in Charlotte, NC. Lead technician Josh Key provided a neat, low-profile solution to power kitchen appliances by adding a new circuit, running 3/4 in PVC conduit, and fishing conductors through finished walls with minimal disruption.

This project falls under our Outlets & Switches service category and our specialty in Outlet Installation & Repair. It’s a great example of how Touchstone Electric handles finished spaces where access is limited and a clean result matters.

Scope of Work and Materials

  • 60 ft Conduit PVC (3/4 in): Professionally mounted with the right fittings, connectors, and LBs as applicable to protect conductors, maintain routing clarity, and support future serviceability.
  • 60 ft THHN #12 Wire (3–4 strand): Pulled for a dedicated 20-amp circuit suitable for kitchen appliances, receptacles, and other higher-demand devices. Note: line item does not include conduit or breaker.
  • 60 ft Fishing Wire: Additional labor to carefully fish wiring through finished walls and hard-to-reach areas without major demolition, saving time and preserving interior finishes.

All routing, strapping, and terminations were handled to meet professional standards, with attention to bend radiuses, secure support, and clear labeling.

Clean Fishing Through Finished Walls

Kitchens in finished homes often require precision to avoid unnecessary drywall cuts. Our team used strategic access points, stud-bay mapping, and the right fishing tools to pull THHN conductors through concealed spaces. The result: a new 20-amp power feed delivered where it’s needed with minimal patching and a clean look that blends seamlessly with the home.

This approach is ideal when cabinetry, tile, or recently painted surfaces make traditional open-wall methods undesirable. We focus on protecting your space while delivering reliable power where you use it most.

Why a 20-Amp Kitchen Circuit Matters

  • Reliable power for appliances: Supports mixers, microwaves, coffee makers, and other countertop devices without frequent tripping.
  • Right-size conductors: THHN #12 conductors are appropriate for 20-amp branch circuits when installed in conduit.
  • Future flexibility: Conduit makes future changes or additions easier by allowing new pulls without opening walls.
  • Neat, professional finish: Conduit routing and fishing techniques help maintain a tidy, durable installation.
