Lead technician Matthew Castello replaced the aging main panel, upgraded the 150A meter/service, added a midsize indoor subpanel, installed AFCI protection, and integrated whole-home surge protection to improve safety, reliability, and code compliance.

Scope of Work Performed
- Main panel replacement and 150A meter/panel combo: Coordinated utility power drop, pulled permits, and installed new meter/panel equipment with grounding electrode system for a safe, code-compliant service.
- Weatherhead and riser repairs: Fixed conduit at the weatherhead and installed a code-compliant riser assembly with new service entrance conductors for a clean, durable service mast.
- Subpanel installation (midsize 12/24, up to 125A): Added capacity and circuit organization with a new indoor subpanel fed by a 4‑wire 2/0 SER cable from the main panel.
- AFCI breaker upgrades for living areas: Installed 15x 20A AFCI breakers serving the dining room receptacle, hallway/foyer, and kitchen receptacles not near the sink or countertops, plus 2x 15A AFCI breakers covering typical bedroom, living room, dining lighting, and hallway/foyer circuits.
- Dedicated double‑pole breakers: Added a 25A double‑pole breaker for equipment such as a small condenser, well pump, or mini‑split, and a 30A double‑pole breaker for loads like a dryer, water heater, spa, EV charger, or A/C.
- Whole‑home surge protection: Installed a panel‑mounted surge protective device to divert excess voltage to ground and help shield the home’s electrical system and connected equipment from lightning‑related surges, grid fluctuations, and equipment cycling.
To minimize downtime, our Raleigh team scheduled work around the utility shutdown and provided options for temporary/limited power upon request.
