150 Amp Electrical Panel Upgrade and Sump Pump Circuit in Vass, NC

Service categories: Panels & Service Upgrades, Electrical Panel Upgrades

Location: Vass, NC | Branch: Raleigh | Technician: Brad Williams | Completed: December 19, 2025

Touchstone Electric completed a comprehensive 150 amp main panel upgrade with a dedicated sump pump circuit for a home in Vass, NC. This project delivered safer power distribution, better labeling and organization, and a reliable, code-compliant supply to protect the property during heavy rain and groundwater events.

Project overview

Homeowner Jennifer Jantzi needed a modern, code-compliant panel to support crawlspace work and a dedicated branch circuit for a sump pump. Our Raleigh team replaced the aging equipment, updated grounding and bonding, and installed clean EMT conduit routing from the panel location to the crawlspace wall where the sump pump connection is located.

After the job was completed, Jennifer shared a positive review of her experience with Touchstone Electric.

What we installed

  • New 150A indoor main panel (aluminum buss): Brought the service equipment current with applicable code, replaced the panel and main lugs, and clearly labeled all circuits.
  • Grounding and bonding: Verified bonding, grounding electrode connections, and service entrance reconnections for safe fault clearing.
  • Dedicated sump pump circuit: Ran a new branch circuit through the closet and over to the crawlspace wall for the pump, ensuring dependable operation during storms.
  • EMT conduit: Installed approximately 20 ft of 3/4" EMT with fittings and supports for a durable, tidy, and protected cable pathway.
  • Breakers matched to existing loads: Installed a mix of standard breakers (15A, 20A, 30A double-pole, 40A, and 60A) aligned with existing appliances and equipment.
  • Permitting and inspection: Handled the permit and coordinated inspection for a smooth, compliant upgrade.

During the panel changeover, power was temporarily disconnected. Our team minimized downtime and kept the homeowner informed throughout the process.

Code and safety upgrades

We updated the system to align with current electrical standards, including proper labeling, service reconnections, and verified terminations. The dedicated sump pump circuit helps reduce nuisance trips and prevents overloads on shared circuits, which is essential for keeping water away from the foundation when it matters most.

Our technicians also reviewed applicable breaker protection requirements so the installation would pass inspection and deliver long-term safety and reliability.

Benefits for the homeowner

  • Safer electrical distribution: A modern 150A panel with updated grounding and bonding enhances protection.
  • Reliability for critical equipment: A dedicated, properly sized circuit helps ensure the sump pump runs when needed.
  • Clean, serviceable layout: Organized circuits and clear labels make future maintenance faster and easier.
  • Inspection-ready work: Professionally permitted and inspected for peace of mind.
