Project overview
On September 9, 2024, our Charlotte team (Matthews branch) completed a 100-amp subpanel installation for Franco in Charlotte, NC. Led by technician Christian Cedillos, this Panels & Service Upgrades project added a dedicated subpanel to reliably power a home sauna and an EV charging circuit—delivering capacity, convenience, and room for future expansion.
To protect the home and meet local code requirements, we routed a new feeder along the exterior wall at the back side of the pool using outdoor-rated conduit and scheduled all required inspections through an electrical permit.
Scope of work
- 100A subpanel installation: Installed a compact indoor-rated subpanel (up to 125A) with space for multiple branch circuits to support the sauna and EV charging needs.
- Feeder protection: Set a 100-amp, 2-pole breaker at the main service to safely feed the new subpanel.
- Exterior conduit routing: Ran approximately 130 feet of 1-inch PVC conduit along the home’s exterior wall behind the pool for a clean, code-compliant pathway.
- Feeder conductors: Pulled THHN conductors through the new conduit to supply the subpanel with dependable capacity.
- Dedicated 40A circuit: Installed NM-B 8/2 wiring for a 40-amp branch circuit, protected by a standard 40A breaker for dedicated equipment.
- Permit and inspections: Filed the electrical permit and coordinated all required inspections with the local authority to verify compliance and safety.
