Touchstone Electric’s Matthews-based Charlotte team completed a Panels & Service Upgrades project in Rock Hill, SC for Ivy Creek Pools. On July 30, 2025, technician Will Cruz installed a new 100A exterior service disconnect, added a subpanel with a 4‑wire feeder, and ran dedicated circuits for a hot tub, a back fireplace, and a refrigerator. We also installed a ceiling fan and updated the vanity light box before reinstalling the customer’s vanity fixture.

This upgrade brings the home in line with the 2020 electrical code requirement for an exterior service disconnecting means, improves safety, and provides room for future expansion.

Highlights of the Rock Hill service upgrade

New 100A exterior service disconnect: A weather-rated, outside-mounted disconnect that serves as the service’s primary shutoff.
Subpanel with 4-wire feeder: Grounds and neutrals separated per code, with a SER 2/0 four-conductor feeder from the disconnect to the subpanel.
Three new dedicated circuits: Hot tub, back fireplace, and refrigerator circuits to support reliable operation and reduce nuisance tripping.

What we installed

100A outdoor service disconnect: Meets 2020 code for an exterior disconnecting means and sets the stage for proper subpanel grounding/neutral separation.
Feeder and subpanel components: Approximately 40 ft of SER 2/0 (4‑wire) from the disconnect to the subpanel and a 100A 2‑pole breaker serving the subpanel.
Hot tub and appliance circuits: A 50A GFCI breaker for the hot tub; two 20A standard breakers supporting the back fireplace and the refrigerator.
Wiring for new runs: About 40 ft of UF‑B 12/2 for direct‑burial 20A circuits, and THHN #6 conductors where a 60A‑class circuit was appropriate.
Lighting and fan work: Installation of one customer‑supplied ceiling fan and a vanity light after replacing the existing box with a properly rated one.
